Tricia And Carol's Gifts To Each Other

I know Christmas is coming and there is a lot going on,but I feel the urge to start working on a big project. Maybe because this has been the best gift my cousin Tricia and I could have given to each other. We didn't want to give each other Christmas and Birthday gifts any longer. We wanted them to truly mean something. So we started working on our family tree together. Tricia and I have been working on our family tree for several years now. We have been lucky enough, on our Grandmothers side, to have been given a lot of information from our second cousin Cindy. Most of the information was for our grandmothers mother. We are stumped when it comes to her father.

Our work has really paid off when it came to our grandfather, but now we are stumped. We can't find where our grandfathers parents or grandparents are buried. That's unusual because the Mennonites are such good record keepers.
Tricia has been doing some work on her fathers side of the family and has had some great finds. She has reconnected with cousins, and they have been sharing information.

I need to start working more on my mothers side of the family. I wish I had better connections with her side of the family, maybe with more research we can all reconnect.
I find it interesting how you can look at these people from both sides of your family, and you see yourself in them. Even when its several generations removed. I have always loved pictures, but until I started doing work on my family tree I can't put into words how valuable they are to me. How each piece of information feels like compounded interest on a high yield saving account.
If you have never kept family records and have been thinking about it. It's worth every minute you spend. Try it, you might be surprised how rich you feel.
